Wolves keep prepping for mega tournament
The 2010 volleyball schedule will start off with a bang this season, as the biggest Division II tournament ever held in the Willamette Valley will be hosted by Western Oregon University, Sept. 3-4, in Monmouth.
The Wolves will be bring in four teams ranked in the top 25 in the preseason poll, No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino, No. 8 UC San Diego, No. 10 Metro State and No. 24 Alaska Anchorage. Joining them in the two-day Phoenix Inn GNAC Conference Challenge will be Central Washington, Humboldt State and Western Washington.
The tournament will feature each team playing a total of four matches with two matches being played per day. It will be held on the campus of Western Oregon University and at Central High School. Matches will be held in two sessions each day. The morning session will feature matches at 10 a.m., and 1 p.m., while the evening session will have matches at 5 p.m., and 8 p.m.
"I hope volleyball fans in the area will recognize the chance to see some great volleyball," Saindon continued. "It is a tough way to start the 2010 campaign but it is an exciting way as well."
