HILLSBORO - Even an injury to standout outside hitter Nicole Peterson couldn't keep the Jesuit Crusaders from rolling through the 2014 volleyball season unbeaten.

Peterson, who eventually wound up as an all-tournament first-team pick, suffered what amounted to a severe cramp in the second game with her team trailing in games 1-0. But, the Crusaders rallied their talents, won that game and then the following two to beat Central Catholic for the OSAA Class 6A volleyball state title.

Ariana Wiltjer led Jesuit with 13 kills, while Peterson finished with 11 kills and 10 digs and Symone Tran had 37 assists to close out the team's 31-0 season.

The title is the second in three years and fourth overall under coach Teresa Zimmerlee.

"These girls worked so hard during the year, they really earned this," Zimmerlee said.

Central Catholic lost in the final for the second-straight year. Whitney Turner had 11 kills and Kealia Rosa had 31 assists to lead the Rams.
