South Medford has scored fewer than 57 points only twice this season, and it kept up that pace as the highlight victory in the quarterfinals of the OSAA/U.S. Bank Class 6A girls basketball state tournament at the University of Portland's Chiles Center.
The second-seeded Panthers ran away from West Salem for a 65-35 win, scoring virtually all their points on lay-ups. South as scored fewer than 57 points just twice this season - the two losses in their current 24-2 campaign.
Top seed Jesuit survived poor shooting and rallied to beat Willamette 58-55, while Clackamas beat defending champion Beaverton 67-42, and 2022 runner-up Barlow survived a strong effort by Tualatin for a 37-32 win.
