The Portland Timbers begin their 13th season in Major League Soccer in less than three weeks, but the season opens up Saturday with a match against St. Louis City at Providence Park.
Portland and St. Louis meet at 7 p.m. in a preseason match.
The Timbers begin their 34-match regular season at home against Kansas City, Feb. 25, and close out in Houston, Oct. 11.
Portland's schedule includes three matches each with Seattle and Vancouver, all of which are part of the Cascadia Cup. The Timbers won the Cup last season. Seattle and Vancouver also play each other three times. Portland is on the road for only two of its six matches within the series.
