A pair of title streaks were started and one title loss avenged during the first week of boys and girls basketball tournament finals Saturday.
Cascade Christian and Crane both won their second consecutive boys titles to highlight the week of games.
CLASS 3A
Defending champion Cascade Christian thumped top-seed Westside Christian 76-54 in the final at Marshfield High School. The game was one night after winning a rematch of last year's final with De La Salle North Catholic 52-51 in the semifinals.
In the girls tournament, Banks won its first title, beating Corbett 47-38 in the final. Corbett finished second for the second consecutive year, having lost in the Class 4A final last year.
CLASS 2A
Third-seeded Salem Academy avenged last season's title loss to Western Christian with a 51-37 victory in the final at the Pendleton Convention Center.
In the girls final, Gervais won its first title since 1994 with a 37-21 decision against Stanfield. For the tourney, Gervais gave up an average of just 22 points per game.
CLASS 1A
A year after going unbeaten, Crane topped Crosshill Christian 58-26 at Baker High School to finish 31-1. The team lost only to Salem Academy 49-45 Dec. 30 in the past two seasons.
In the girls tourney, Damascus Christian handed top seed Crane only its second loss of the season, 35-33, to avenge its loss to the Mustangs final last year.
For Crane, the past two seasons for boys and girls included just four losses.
