Chauncey is the next in line for Jody Allen

It's not if, but when for Blazers coach to get fired

When Pete Carroll got the axe as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday, the story included the ultimate decision-maker for the move was the owner of the team - Jody Allen.

That's the same Jody Allen who owns the Portland Trail Blazers. And, while Carroll had won a Super Bowl and made the Seahawks a formidable opponent in any game, the coach of the Blazers, Chauncey Billups, does not have the background of success even though his hands have been basically tied in terms of talent and long-term commitment from ownership.

So, it's natural to think Billups is next in line for firing, especially after the team lost by 62 points on Thursday at Oklahoma City.

After the loss to the Thunder, the Blazers were 10-27 and ahead of only San Antonio in the Western Conference; eight games out of a playoff spot.

Allen would then have two head coaching posts to fill with plenty of speculation that Portland General Manager, Joe Cronin, could be ousted at the same time. All prior to the All-Star Game.
